Cariari County Club
Costa Rica’s oldest and perhaps best-known golf course is located in the Cariari Country Club, five minutes from the San Jose International Airport and 15 minutes from downtown San Jose. But don’t be fooled by the proximity to the city; the golf course at the Cariari will make you feel as if you were in a country club in the forest.
This golf course was designed by George Fazio and built in the early 1970s. Since then, it has gained a well-deserved reputation for being one of Central America’s top courses. While the course is extremely popular in Costa Rica, tee-times are available, except for weekend mornings when local club members like to play.
The Cariari is home to many amateur, national, and international tournaments including the Costa Rica and Central America Open. This par-71, 6,590-yard course is heavily wooded, with narrow fairways. The greens are Bermuda grass.
Please note that the Cariari Country Club golf course is only open to club members and guests of the Melia Cariari and the Hotel Herradura.
